Medicine and anatomy apps, flashcard method, note taking, IT help and student case study
Welcome to the fourth post in this student learning blog series. This week’s featured resources, brought to you by various members of staff from across the University, are below.
Subject specific resources
All things medicine and anatomy. If you’re studying medicine or have enrolled in a module that focuses on the human body, students have told us the following online resources are useful:
- BNF app
- TeachMe Anatomy
- Geeky Medics
- Deranged Physiology
- Get Body Smart
- Armando Hasudungan YouTube channel
- Acland Anatomy
- Radiology Masterclass
Food for thought
Anki flashcard method. Become a more effective learner by integrating active recall testing and spaced repetition into your study. Anki is a flashcard software mostly used by medical students, but it can be just as easily applied to another subject. Could Ali’s revision method work for you?
How to
Take notes with OneNote. Bring your revision notes to life in this digital Office 365 notebook, free to use with your University login. Type or handwrite text, draw, annotate, embed media, plus more.
Some students use Notability to annotate lecture slides and make comprehensive notes, though this comes at a cost to you.
What’s new
In-person IT help is now available. The IT Help Point has re-opened in the Butts Wynd Building. Drop-in if you experience issues during your studies which can’t be resolved over email or phone.
In case you missed it
Remote Teaching Case Study: Jorge Sarasola Herrera, School of Modern Languages. Read about Jorge’s experience as a PhD student and postgraduate tutor over the lockdown period. If you’re interested in the Hispanic world or are considering learning Spanish, you’ll find some great resource recommendations too.
