Hive highlights, August 2020
Here’s a summary of the activity that took place in the Hive this month, in case you missed it.
As you’d expect, it’s been a busy month for us (and everyone) in the run up to term time. We’ve been delivering on-demand training sessions to departments, among other things.
With that in mind, this update is a lot lighter than our July roundup. We’ve got lots in store for September, so don’t be too disappointed.

5 hot topic picks
We’ve had a lot of activity in the Hive Team again this month. These are the 5 key points we selected that were raised and talked about within the community.
1. Free licence media resources
People wanted to know where they could get royalty free music, image and video assets for use in lecture and tutorial materials.
2. Using Sway for group presentations
People were looking for advice and tips on the use of Microsoft Sway for assessed student group presentations.
3. Using Padlet for Q&A
People were interested in using Padlet in their teaching, when it will be licenced and how it can be embedded in Moodle courses.
4. Available AV facilities in teaching spaces
People wanted to know what AV equipment would be available to them on campus in each room when teaching resumes.
5. Building community online
People wanted to hear ideas about how to build community within programme cohorts this year given the online situation.
