Immersive reader added to Moodle

Immersive reader is available in most Microsoft software and opens readings in a new window allows to read the text aloud. (The Immersive Reader). There is now an ‘Immersive reader’ option as an alternative format for most files that are added into a Moodle course. This works with PDF files as well as Word documents. See the relevant post as well as guidelines on how to use this new option in this link.

Hot topic picks

October was also a busy month in the HIVE. These are some of the topics that were raised and discussed within the community.

  1. Search and resizing in Nitro Pro

Someone asked the HIVE how to resize pages of a PDF when they are not all the same shape and size, by same percentage. This is particularly difficult with Nitro, but see a suggested workaround in the comments of the relevant post.

  1. Nitro Pro licence

Some members reported in the HIVE that Nitro Pro 12 showed a message saying that the licence has expired. This was an issue known to IT Services, which have provided a fix, both for personal and University computers. See the relevant post as we as the guidance given by IT by clicking here.

5 . Technological frames in classroom

In an article that was uploaded recently in the HIVE, we read a a case study that investigates faculty views of technology in the context of a faculty professional development program, in order to see how they frame technology in teaching and learning. See the post and comments via this link.
