Conference Update – ALT-C 2024
The Association for Learning Technology’s annual conference (ALT-C) was held in Manchester this year, from 3-5 September. It was a privilege to attend in person with my TEL Team colleagues, with others joining us online. Between us all, I think it’s safe to say we managed to achieve great coverage of what was an exciting programme on the themes “Doing, reflecting, improving, collaborating”. As with any conference, it was also a great opportunity for networking, catching up with colleagues old and new and browsing the vendor stalls.
As an ALT-C veteran I noticed a few changes this year. Firstly, the venue was an hotel. Although convenient, this did make for a very different experience from previous years when universities hosted the conference in their own buildings. This made running the hybrid sessions challenging to deliver (and watch). Secondly, the conference was more compact, which reflected the general cutbacks in expenditure being experienced across the sector.
The Team are delighted to be able to share their conference experiences and learning with you via a series of posts in the Hive (see Take 5 in the Hive). To give a proper flavour of everyone’s favourite sessions, there will be two posts every Wednesday from now until the end of November. Please dip in to the posts (take 5!) and follow up with any questions or requests for further information.
