School of Management

In addition to gaining teaching experience in a traditional tutorial setting, PhD students in the School of Management have the opportunity to teach a one-hour session on an area of their expertise in a supported environment.

PGRs give a short lecture grounded in their PhD research and facilitate a discussion with the support and guidance of the relevant module coordinator. In advance of the session, they discuss their teaching plans with the member of academic staff to receive appropriate mentoring and guidance and are given feedback after the session. To facilitate the process of matching PhD students to modules, a list of potential topic areas is circulated to staff who are encouraged to contact the PhD student should they wish to participate in the PGR teaching scheme.
